VICTORIA, Seychelles — Cillia Ardyna Mangroo, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Seychelles, formally presented her credentials as Permanent Representative to the World Trade Organisation (WTO) in Geneva to the director-general of the WTO, Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, on Monday September 15, 2025.
During the event, Ambassador Mangroo engaged with the director-general on key trade issues for Seychelles, including the country’s role in the ongoing negotiations on fisheries subsidies and the importance of amplifying the voice of African members within the multilateral trading system. She reaffirmed Seychelles’ commitment to the WTO and its principles, and to furthering the country’s engagements under the organisation towards achieving both national interests and global trade objectives.
Ambassador Mangroo will lead Seychelles’ representation in Geneva, working on a wide range of trade matters including fisheries, trade and environment, digital trade, and the reform of the dispute settlement system. The presentation of credentials marks the formal start of her work in that capacity.
Seychelles joined the WTO as its 161st member in April 2015 and actively engages in safeguarding its trade interests and promoting inclusive, sustainable development under the multilateral trading system. The ministry said the new appointment would further strengthen the country’s engagement with the organisation at a critical time for the global trading environment.
