French National Day Celebrated in Seychelles With Focus on Friendship and Cooperation

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The diplomatic community, Seychellois government representatives, and numerous invited guests gathered yesterday at the Delplace restaurant to celebrate the French National Day, known as Bastille Day. The reception, organised by the Embassy of France in Seychelles, was marked by an atmosphere of friendship, cooperation and shared values between the two countries.

In her address, the French Ambassador to Seychelles, Madame Olivia Berkeley-Christmann, who is approaching the end of her diplomatic mission in the archipelago, warmly thanked the guests for their presence. ‘Thank you to all for making the journey and for being here to celebrate with us the friendship and solidarity between France and the Seychelles,’ she said. The ambassador stressed the values of liberty, equality and fraternity that link the two peoples.

Principal Minister and Minister of Fisheries and the Blue Economy Jean-François Ferrari, who delivered the toast, paid tribute to the ambassador for her action in favour of multilateralism, her active participation in major international fora, and her involvement in global conflict resolution. He also acknowledged her contributions to skills development and internship programmes in the hospitality sector, which continue to strengthen local capacity in this key industry.
