Seychelles Prepares to Mark Constitution Day and Independence Day

VICTORIA, Seychelles — As June unfolds, the people of Seychelles are preparing to commemorate two important national events, Constitution Day on June 18 and Independence Day on June 29. These national days are not only milestones in the country’s history but also moments to reflect on unity, identity, and the spirit of the Seychellois community.
As is customary, this year’s Constitution Day celebration will feature a military parade at 7pm on Constitution Avenue, followed by a musical show. Cultural and creative events are also part of the celebrations. On Praslin, from 8am, there will be a Fofolie IRON entertainment show at 10am, while food fairs will provide a space to highlight local produce, promote healthy lifestyles, and support local producers.
Activities on the outer islands will also feature, with a celebration taking place at Grand Anse, and a service at Baie Ste Anne, Praslin. The packed calendar of events is set to bring together Seychellois from all walks of life to honour the country’s journey, with officials from government, the private sector and civil society expected to take part in the national commemorations.
