VICTORIA, Seychelles — Seychelles and China have deepened their bilateral partnership through a series of new cooperation agreements spanning infrastructure, education, health, and trade. The agreements were discussed during high-level meetings between senior officials from both countries, reflecting the strong and growing relationship between the two nations.
Key areas of cooperation include continued investment in major infrastructure projects, expanded scholarship programmes for Seychellois students, and technical assistance in areas such as renewable energy and digital transformation. According to officials, the partnership is based on mutual respect, shared interests, and a commitment to the principles of South-South cooperation. Both sides have expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved to date.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the discussions also covered regional and international issues of mutual concern, including climate change, maritime security, and the importance of multilateralism. The two countries reaffirmed their commitment to working together in international fora to advance shared priorities. Officials said the relationship continues to deliver concrete benefits for the Seychellois people.
The deepening partnership with China is part of Seychelles’ broader strategy of maintaining balanced and productive relationships with all major partners. Officials have emphasised that the country values its relationships with traditional and emerging partners alike. The next round of bilateral consultations is expected to take place later this year, with a focus on implementing existing agreements and identifying new areas of cooperation.
