Air Seychelles Soars Back to Abu Dhabi with Six Weekly Flights and Bigger Capacity

Air Seychelles is flying high once again—this time reconnecting Seychelles with the UAE capital after a six-year break. The national carrier officially resumed its direct Mahé–Abu Dhabi service on Saturday, marking a new chapter in regional connectivity and tourism recovery.
The inaugural flight, touching down at Seychelles International Airport at around 12.30 pm, was welcomed with celebratory fanfare, including a reception attended by government officials, aviation partners, and tourism industry players. The return of the route is expected to boost not just travel, but trade and investment between the two countries.
Replacing Etihad Airways’ former twice-weekly service, Air Seychelles’ new offering will operate six times weekly using its modern and fuel-efficient Airbus A320-NEO aircraft, promising enhanced capacity, reliability, and comfort for travellers.
“This route is strategically important, not only for tourism but also for strengthening ties with our partners in the UAE,” said a senior representative from Air Seychelles. “We are proud to once again place Seychelles on the regional aviation map with our own wings.”
The flight resumption comes amid rising demand from both leisure and business travellers and is expected to make Abu Dhabi a more accessible hub for onward global connections. Tourism officials are hopeful the route will inject new energy into the island’s visitor arrivals—especially from the Middle East and Asia.
With increased frequency, upgraded aircraft, and renewed ambition, Air Seychelles’ return to Abu Dhabi signals not just a route revival, but a renewed confidence in the airline’s post-pandemic growth trajectory.
