VICTORIA, Seychelles — Absa Seychelles has marked International Women’s Day by reaffirming its commitment to accelerating action for women in leadership, emphasising that equity is not an abstract goal but a responsibility. The bank’s message notes that while women play a vital role in shaping economies, businesses, and communities, structural barriers persist, and breaking them requires more than ambition — it demands intentional action, bold leadership, and a deep commitment to inclusion.
This year’s International Women’s Day theme, ‘Accelerate Action’, challenges the organisation and the wider community to move beyond conversations and take concrete steps toward meaningful change. As an organisation, Absa Seychelles recognises that achieving gender equity is not just about representation; it is about access, opportunity, and sustained progress. Inclusion is described as part of the bank’s DNA, with women making up over 75 per cent of the workforce.
Helda Antoine, Head of Compliance at Absa Bank Seychelles, led the bank’s contribution to the conversation, highlighting the practical steps being taken to support women in their careers. The bank’s senior leadership noted that equity in leadership is reflected in concrete actions: mentorship programmes, equal pay policies, training opportunities, and a working environment that supports professional growth for women at every stage of their careers. Absa Seychelles said it remains committed to building a workplace where women are equipped and empowered to lead.
