New principal secretary briefed on inner islands coordination in Praslin

VICTORIA, Seychelles — Representatives of various ministries and agencies on Praslin have been briefed on the mandate, operations, and expected outcomes of the newly established Inner Islands Affairs and Community Delivery department, headed by Principal Secretary Denis Antat.

The meeting, held yesterday afternoon at the Pension Fund Complex in Grand Anse Praslin, was chaired by the Minister for Local Government and Inner Islands, Eveline Rose. Also present were National Assembly members Hon. Alvin Grandcourt (Grand Anse Praslin) and Hon. Churchill Gill (Baie Ste Anne), PS for Local Government and Community Services Vicky Van Der Westhuizen, and senior management members of the ministry.

During her opening remarks, Minister Rose explained that the establishment of the new department reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring that services and development reach the outer islands in a more coordinated manner. She said the new structure is expected to make government response faster and more effective.

Minister Rose reminded participants that government remains committed to working with communities to address concerns. The headquarters of the new department, led by Mr Antat, will be based at the Anse region, with Deacon Louis Agathine blessing the offices to mark the launch of operations.
