VICTORIA, Seychelles — President Dr Patrick Herminie has delivered his maiden Christmas message to the nation, calling on Seychellois to embrace the values of peace, hope, compassion, humility and sharing during the festive season.
In a televised address broadcast on Wednesday, the President said Christmas is more than a date on the calendar. “It is a moment when we celebrate compassion, humility and sharing. It is a time when we pause, look beyond our daily differences and come together as one family,” he said.
President Herminie noted that the season is also an opportunity to strengthen the bonds that unite Seychellois, within families, among friends and across communities. He urged citizens to remember those facing hardship, including those who have lost loved ones, those separated from family and those required to work during the holidays.
“Let us continue to instil in our children good values, let us promote compassion and respect, and let us ensure that love reigns in the heart of each one of us,” he said.
The President concluded by wishing the nation a blessed Christmas filled with peace, health and joy, and invoking divine blessings on the country. “Merry Christmas to you all.”
