VICTORIA, Seychelles — Seychelles strengthened its leadership profile on the continental stage as the Minister for Youth and Sports, Kalsey Belle, led the national delegation to the 5th African Union Specialised Technical Committee on Youth, Culture and Sports (STC-YCS-V), held in Bujumbura, Burundi from December 8 to 13, 2025.
Held under the theme ‘Reclaiming Dignity and Advancing Reparatory Justice through Youth, Culture and Sport’, the high-level meeting brought together African ministers and senior officials to adopt key decisions that will shape continental priorities and investment in youth, culture, and sports for the 2025-2029 cycle.
A major highlight for Seychelles was its election to the Bureau of the Specialised Technical Committee on Youth, Culture and Sports, as the Eastern Region representative to serve alongside Ghana, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Mozambique. Minister Belle had the honour of chairing the first ministerial meeting, reflecting strong confidence in Seychelles’ leadership at the continental level.
Officials said the appointment will allow the country to play a more active role in shaping continental policy on issues affecting young people, the creative sector, and sport.
