Minister James Camille Reviews Operations on Praslin Familiarisation Visit

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Minister for Homeland Security and Civil Affairs, James Camille, undertook a two-day comprehensive familiarisation visit on Praslin with the objective of assessing service delivery, operational readiness, and the working conditions of frontline officers and personnel across key government institutions. On Thursday afternoon the visit commenced with tours of both Praslin police stations, beginning at the Grande Anse police station followed by the Baie Ste Anne police station.

At each location, the minister was briefed by station commanders on current operational frameworks, crime trends, resource requirements, and logistical challenges. He also met officers on duty to better understand their day-to-day responsibilities, welfare considerations, and areas where additional support may enhance policing outcomes for the public. The minister then proceeded to the Immigration and Civil Identity Systems Office on Praslin, where he met the management and staff. Officers provided a comprehensive briefing on the soon-to-be-occupied new office facility, which is expected to significantly improve workflow efficiency, public accessibility, and overall service delivery.

Yesterday, the minister visited the Youth Offenders Facility, where he held direct engagements with the minors currently enrolled on the rehabilitation programme. He was briefed by facility staff on ongoing initiatives aimed at behavioural development, education, vocational training, and reintegration pathways. The minister commended the youths for their progress and discipline, emphasising the importance of resilience, responsibility, and continued commitment to positive transformation. He reiterated the ministry’s support for the rehabilitation system as a key pillar in promoting safer communities.
