Seychelles Human Rights Commission Pays Courtesy Call on President Herminie

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Seychelles Human Rights Commission has paid a courtesy call on President Patrick Herminie, in a meeting that reflects the Commission’s continued engagement with the Head of State on issues of human rights, justice, and the rule of law. The meeting was attended by Principal Minister Wallace Cosgrow.

Judge Renaud, who led the Commission’s delegation, highlighted the importance of the courtesy call as an opportunity to discuss how the Commission can be of service to the public, how cases can be referred to the Commission, and how the institution can continue to support citizens, civil society, and other stakeholders. The Commission’s work spans a wide range of areas, from civil and political rights to economic, social, and cultural rights.

President Herminie thanked the Commission for its work and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to upholding human rights, strengthening the rule of law, and ensuring that all Seychellois are treated with dignity and respect. The meeting is part of a series of engagements the new administration is having with constitutional and independent bodies.
