President Herminie Pledges Stronger Performance System for Public Service

VICTORIA, Seychelles — President Patrick Herminie has pledged to introduce a stronger performance system in the public service, in a move aimed at improving the delivery of services to citizens. The announcement was made during a meeting with senior public servants, in which the President emphasised the importance of accountability, transparency, and results in government operations.

‘The cost of the 16th month payment will be covered, and we will also focus on a performance system in the public service,’ said President Herminie, noting that a culture of evaluation, recognition, and continuous improvement is essential to a modern public service. The President said the system will help to identify and reward excellence, and to address underperformance.

Officials said the new performance system is expected to be rolled out in phases, with training and consultation to be conducted in the coming months. The government said it will work closely with public servants and their representatives to ensure that the system is fair, transparent, and aligned with the country’s broader public sector reform agenda.
