VICTORIA, Seychelles — To mark this year’s International Town Planning Day on November 8, the Seychelles Planning Authority (SPA) held a special ceremony on Friday at the Gard Lake Conference Centre on Ile Persévérance to honour its workers with the longest years of service, as well as several individuals who have made positive contributions to the country’s development and have been inducted into the ‘Wall of Fame’. During the event, the SPA recognised three workers with the longest years of service. Sandra Felix and Cecile Nanon were honoured for 20 years of service each, while chief executive Angela Servina was recognised for 15 years with the authority. Madam Nanon was unable to attend the ceremony. The authority also acknowledged the contributions of four individuals who have played an important role in the country’s development, inducting them into its Wall of Fame as a mark of appreciation for their dedication and service.
Speaking at the event, Vice President Sebastien Pillay commended the authority for its continued commitment to the sustainable development of Seychelles, noting that town planning is central to the country’s long-term vision. The SPA chief executive expressed her gratitude to the staff and partners for their contributions, noting that the day was also an opportunity to reflect on the theme ‘What we plan today is our heritage for tomorrow’ and to recommit to building a better Seychelles for future generations.
