VICTORIA, Seychelles — In his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF), President Patrick Herminie conducted his first official visit to the SDF headquarters at Bel Eau on Friday morning. He was accompanied by Vice President Sebastien Pillay.
On his arrival, Commander-in-Chief President Herminie was welcomed by the Chief of Defence Forces, Major General Michael Rosette, in a formal ceremony that underscored the long-standing relationship between the Head of State and the country’s military. The visit provided the new President with an opportunity to receive briefings on the operational readiness, ongoing activities, and key priorities of the defence forces.
During the visit, President Herminie also addressed members of the force, reaffirming the government’s commitment to working closely with the SDF to safeguard the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He emphasised the role of the military in supporting national development and disaster response, particularly in light of recent emergencies that have tested the country’s resilience.
The visit marks an important symbolic step in the new administration’s engagement with the security forces, and signals the priority the Herminie government places on maintaining a strong and professional defence force. The President is expected to continue his familiarisation visits to other security agencies and strategic installations in the coming weeks.
