VICTORIA, Seychelles — The much-anticipated inauguration ceremony of President-elect Dr Patrick Herminie will take place this Sunday at the Stad Linite, Roche Caïman, starting at 5.30pm. Following the ceremony, Monday October 27, 2025 has been declared a public holiday.
Dr Marvin Fanny, chairperson of the organising committee, said the event is a public and national gathering that aims to bring Seychellois together in unity and celebration. ‘The decision to hold the ceremony at a stadium rather than at State House is to allow a majority of Seychellois to witness the event live. This is not a political rally but a national day, a moment for us to come together, work together, and build our nation,’ Dr Fanny said.
The celebration will include food and drink stalls, although alcohol sales will be prohibited during the official ceremony. The event is expected to feature cultural performances and a formal swearing-in segment, after which members of the public will have the opportunity to take part in the festivities. To facilitate attendance, the Seychelles Public Transport Corporation (SPTC) will provide free transportation from various districts to the venue and back to designated drop-off points. Buses will run early, with return trips scheduled for midnight, Dr Fanny confirmed.
The organisers are placing strong emphasis on security and respectful conduct, with the police ensuring a safe and orderly environment. ‘We are calling on everyone to behave responsibly and respect each other,’ added Dr Fanny. ‘It is a time for us to build the nation together, in unity.’
