VICTORIA, Seychelles — Firefighters at the Seychelles Fire and Rescue Services Agency’s Praslin station have received a special token of appreciation from one of the island’s leading tourism establishments, Raffles Seychelles.
A ceremony was held on Monday at the station based on Île Éve, Baie Ste Anne, where each firefighter received a breakfast-for-two voucher, recognising their dedication and service to the community. The gesture comes as a heartfelt thank you to the men and women who respond to emergencies across Praslin and neighbouring islands.
Speaking at the ceremony, Raffles Seychelles representative Tamara Rousseau paid tribute to the courage and selflessness of the fire service. ‘Every day, you put on your gear, not knowing what challenges await — a roaring blaze, a hazardous rescue, or a call to help in a moment of crisis. Yet you answer that call with courage, skill, and an unwavering commitment to our community,’ she said.
The ceremonial voucher was presented by Mr Stefaniuk to leading firefighter Veronique Cesar and firefighter Mario Fanny. On behalf of the team on Praslin, section leader Andrew François thanked Raffles Seychelles for the gesture, saying the recognition inspires firefighters to continue their work with professionalism and pride. The visit concluded with a short demonstration showing how firefighters respond to emergencies, including a simulated incident involving a person trapped in a vehicle.
