Ramkalawan and Herminie Hold Peaceful Transfer of Power Meeting at State House

VICTORIA, Seychelles — A peaceful transfer of power began on Monday morning as outgoing Head of State and Linyon Demokratik Seselwa presidential candidate Wavel Ramkalawan met with president-elect Dr Patrick Herminie of United Seychelles at State House for a two-hour tête-à-tête.

Vice-President Ahmed Afif also met with his incoming counterpart, Sebastien Pillay. Among the matters discussed were the inauguration of the new President, the official opening of the National Assembly, the office of the former President, national security, economic stability, and the importance of ensuring a smooth and peaceful transition of power.

The two leaders’ meeting was widely welcomed as a sign of political maturity and respect for the democratic process in Seychelles. Both sides emphasised the need to keep national interests at the centre of the transition, ensuring continuity in government and stability for citizens, the private sector and international partners.

Further details on the date and programme of the presidential inauguration are expected to be released in the coming days, in line with the constitutional timelines and in consultation with the Electoral Commission Seychelles and the National Assembly.
