Herminie to Be Inaugurated as Sixth President of Seychelles on October 26

VICTORIA, Seychelles — President-elect Dr Patrick Herminie of United Seychelles will be publicly inaugurated as the sixth President of the Republic of Seychelles on October 26, 2025, his supporters were told during celebrations on Sunday at United Square in Victoria.

Dr Herminie, who returns United Seychelles to State House after five years in opposition, secured 34,389 votes, or 52.7 percent of all valid votes cast in the presidential election runoff held on October 9, 10 and 11. He will succeed incumbent Wavel Ramkalawan of Linyon Demokratik Seselwa, who conceded defeat following the announcement of results.

Speaking to a large crowd of supporters on Sunday, Dr Herminie thanked the Seychellois people for what he described as a clear and decisive mandate, and called on all citizens — including those who did not vote for him — to come together in the national interest. He emphasised the importance of unity, economic stability and continuity of government during the transition period.

The inauguration programme is expected to be released in the coming days, in consultation with the Electoral Commission Seychelles and the National Assembly. The incoming administration has indicated that further cabinet appointments and policy announcements will follow in the days after the swearing-in ceremony.
