United Seychelles Holds Final Rally at Gordon Square Ahead of Run-Off

VICTORIA, Seychelles — Hundreds of supporters gathered at Gordon Square on Sunday for a rally led by United Seychelles (US) presidential candidate Dr Patrick Herminie and his running mate Sebastien Pillay, ahead of the second round of the presidential election scheduled for October 9, 10 and 11, 2025.

The event was marked by energetic speeches, expressions of gratitude and renewed calls for unity and determination as the campaign entered its final phase. Both Dr Herminie and Mr Pillay called on supporters to remain committed, to participate peacefully in the democratic process, and to continue advocating for what they described as a shared national vision.

Dr Herminie addressed the crowd surrounded by youth and members of the newly formed political party Lalyans Nouvo Sesel, which contested the first round of the election. ‘We need a leadership that listens and responds to citizens’ needs. We are here to build a Seychelles that belongs to every Seychellois, where everyone has an equal place in our nation’s progress,’ he said.

Vice-presidential candidate Sebastien Pillay opened his address by thanking supporters for their continued commitment despite the fatigue, difficulties and calmness of the campaign. ‘We are still here, and we will stay here,’ he stated, urging supporters to rally behind their candidate on October 11, which he described as the decisive day. Former President Danny Faure also spoke, urging supporters to have faith in the two candidates and to trust that they will bring financial stability to the country.
