VICTORIA, Seychelles — Former presidential candidate Ralph Volcere has officially endorsed Dr Patrick Herminie of the United Seychelles party, ahead of the upcoming run-off presidential election.
Mr Volcere said he had held discussions with members of the Linyon Demokratik Seselwa and later with Dr Herminie, before taking time to reflect together with Bernard Port Louis, his running mate in the last presidential race. ‘Today, I am guided by conviction. This is not a decision we made lightly or simply for the sake of it, but one rooted in the values of democracy that United Seychelles represents in 2025,’ he said.
Speaking at a rally organised by the United Seychelles party at Marie-Jeanne Estate on Praslin, Mr Volcere said that, after careful consideration, he had chosen to give his support to Dr Herminie, whom he believes is best placed to lead the country in the years ahead. ‘I am endorsing Dr Herminie and calling on the Seychellois people to put in power a man who can truly deliver for the next five years,’ he added.
When he addressed the crowd, Dr Herminie expressed words of gratitude to Mr Volcere. He also thanked the people of Praslin and La Digue for their support in the recent election, noting that US has become the strongest political force in Seychelles. The elected members of the National Assembly for Grand Anse Praslin, the Baie Sainte Anne inner islands and the inner islands also addressed the supporters. The rally was preceded by a motorcade around Praslin, which began at Anse Kerlan.
