91,300 Run-Off Ballot Papers Arrive in Seychelles

VICTORIA, Seychelles — A consignment of 91,300 ballot papers to be used for the second round of the presidential election, scheduled for October 9, 10 and 11, 2025, arrived on board an Emirates flight which landed at the Seychelles International Airport at 6.35am on Sunday.

The cargo will be opened on Monday morning at the Electoral Commission headquarters in Mont Fleuri for verification in the presence of electoral officers, political party representatives, observers and officials from the Electoral Commission of Seychelles (ECS). The verification process is in line with the legal framework governing the conduct of the election.

The ballot papers were printed in Dubai, with the printing process supervised by a delegation led by Chief Electoral Officer Manuella Amesbury, accompanied by representatives of both United Seychelles and Linyon Demokratik Seselwa. The representatives of the two parties have confirmed that the process went smoothly, and that the ballot papers have been cleared for use in the second round.

The second round of the presidential election will be held on October 9, 10 and 11, after the first round on September 25-27 saw no candidate secure the over-50 percent threshold required to be declared president. The two contenders are Dr Patrick Herminie of United Seychelles and the incumbent Wavel Ramkalawan of Linyon Demokratik Seselwa.
