US and LDS Representatives Share Observations on Run-Off Ballot Paper Printing in Dubai

VICTORIA, Seychelles — Representatives of United Seychelles (US) and Linyon Demokratik Seselwa (LDS) presently in Dubai to oversee the printing of ballot papers for the upcoming presidential run-off have shared their observations of the intensive exercise.

Speaking on the first day of preparation on Wednesday, Vivan Payette of LDS and Wilson Joseph of US said they were present throughout the process in the morning and afternoon, which included signing necessary documents, attending to other preliminary logistics prior to printing, such as verification of the papers, verification after printing, endorsement and signature of the papers, including the braille folders.

According to Mr Payette, a lot of preparation went into the printing of the ballot papers, including producing talons for the ballot paper booklets. ‘They did one and we verified it. We are making sure that this time around, unlike the first exercise last month, none of the ballot papers get stuck together,’ he said. ‘Up until now everything is going well,’ he added.

The delegation, led by Chief Electoral Officer Manuella Amesbury, left Seychelles on Tuesday evening and is expected to return on Sunday on board an Emirates flight from Dubai. The presidential run-off is scheduled for October 9, 10 and 11.
