No Major Incidents Reported on Inner Islands Polling Day

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Electoral Commission of Seychelles (ECS) has confirmed that no major incidents were reported during polling on the inner islands, including the Stéphan Rousseau district, where voting proceeded smoothly on the main election day, Saturday, September 27, 2025.

The district’s polling station, located at the primary school, served voters across the constituency. Electoral officers reported that voters were processed in an orderly manner, with those requiring assistance receiving the necessary support from polling staff. ECS officials praised the cooperation of voters and the dedication of electoral officers for the smooth running of the exercise.

Across the islands, United Seychelles supporters were out in force to celebrate their candidates’ victories. In several constituencies, including Grand Anse Praslin, newly elected members were greeted with heartfelt celebrations, with supporters chanting and waving their party flags. On Praslin, US supporters held a motorcade starting at Amitié near the airport and going up to Anse Kerlan. Supporters on La Digue also celebrated their party’s general election victory using various modes of transportation.

The peaceful conduct of the election, from the outer islands on Thursday and Friday to the main polling day on Saturday, has been widely praised. The ECS has thanked voters, electoral officers, security personnel and the media for their contributions to a successful exercise.
