Alvin Grandcourt Dethrones Long-Serving Inner Islands Assembly Member

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Electoral Commission of Seychelles (ECS) yesterday announced the results of the National Assembly elections for the inner islands, with Alvin Grandcourt dethroning the long-serving member in one of the most-watched contests of the 2025 legislative vote.

According to the results announced by the ECS, 55 percent of the valid votes cast went to Mr Grandcourt, marking a significant shift in the inner islands’ representation. The results were officially announced on Sunday morning at the ECS headquarters in Mont Fleuri.

The National Assembly vote in the inner islands also saw the SUM candidate Francis Brioche secure 33 votes, while other candidates shared the remainder of the valid votes, accounting for approximately 1.30 percent of the total. The detailed breakdown is available on the ECS website.

The result completes the picture of the National Assembly composition following the 2025 general elections, with United Seychelles securing 19 seats. Members elected from the inner islands will join their counterparts in representing their respective districts in the Assembly for the new term.
