Voting Begins at Special Polling Stations Across Seychelles

VICTORIA, Seychelles — Seychellois voters went to the polls on Thursday for the Presidential and National Assembly Elections, with the first day reserved for special polling stations on Mahé, Praslin and the Outer Islands.

On Mahé, the special polling stations were set up at the English River School and La Rosière creche, open between 7am and 5pm, the North East Point Home for the Elderly from 7am to 12 noon, and the Remand Centre in Perseverance from 7am to 12 noon. On Praslin, the special polling station was at the Baie Ste Anne primary school, also open from 7am to 5pm. On the Outer Islands, voters on Astove, Assomption, Farquar, Poivre, D’Arros, Denis Island, Bird Island and Fregate Island cast their ballots.

According to the Voters Register, 77,045 people are eligible to vote during the three-day exercise, which will end with the main polling day on Saturday September 27, 2025. The Electoral Commission of Seychelles urged voters to bring valid identification and to confirm their assigned polling station in advance.

Election observers, party agents and security personnel have been deployed across all stations. The ECS said it will publish preliminary results on its official channels once counting is complete on Saturday night.
