Seven Candidates Take Part in Second and Final Presidential Debate

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The second and final presidential debate ahead of the 2025 general election was held on Thursday evening, organised by the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation (SBC) and broadcast live from the SBC Maison in Union Vale.

All seven candidates who took part in the debate appeared before the country, presenting their visions and answering questions on a range of issues including the cost of living, employment, education, health, security and governance. The format gave the candidates an opportunity to address voters directly, in the final major televised exchange before polling day.

The debate ran from 7pm and was broadcast live, allowing the public to follow the exchanges in real time. Members of the audience and the wider public took to social media to share their reactions, with many calling the session lively and substantive. The candidates used the platform to clarify their policies and to make their closing pitch to the electorate.

The Electoral Commission has confirmed that voting will take place over three days from September 25 to 27, 2025, starting with the outer islands. Voters are urged to check their polling station allocations and to bring the required identification. The two debates were organised to ensure that citizens have the opportunity to hear from the candidates before casting their ballots.
