VICTORIA, Seychelles — Kempinski Seychelles Resort has marked a new milestone in sustainable agriculture with the launch of its innovative tropical hydroponic farm, now in its initial growth phase and nurturing more than 6,000 plants across 23 varieties of vegetables and herbs.
The soil-free, water-efficient system has been designed to deliver exceptional freshness and flavour, combining cutting-edge hydroponic technology with the pristine natural beauty of Seychelles. From vibrant leaf greens to aromatic herbs, every crop is cultivated with precision and care, with the first harvest expected in a few weeks.
Resort management said the initiative offers guests a unique opportunity to experience the future of farming, while reducing reliance on imported produce. The system uses up to 90 per cent less water than traditional methods, delivers 100 per cent home-grown goodness, and leaves a zero carbon footprint from transportation, in line with the property’s wider sustainability goals.
The hydroponic farm forms part of a broader push by the hospitality sector in Seychelles to invest in climate-smart agriculture and to support the local food economy. Resort officials said the project will continue to expand in the coming months, with additional varieties and partnerships planned.
