VICTORIA, Seychelles — Linyon Demokratik Seselwa (LDS) presidential candidate Wavel Ramkalawan has once again urged his supporters to give him a second mandate on September 27 and to elect a team that can work for Seychelles. He made the comments at a rally his party held yesterday at Anse Royale, near the University of Seychelles, as part of the party’s regional meetings in preparation for the elections at the end of the month.
A large part of his address focused on the live debate that SBC organised for the presidential candidates on Friday evening, in which he refused to participate. Mr Ramkalawan raised several points, among them repeatedly insisting that his party is a serious one compared to the other candidates who lack the experience to run the country and who continue to tell voters lies. ‘During the last five years under the theme ‘Seychelles for all its children’, I personally stand before you with great pride, because it is true that during these five years we have truly made Seychelles for all its children,’ Mr Ramkalawan said.
He added that this was not just a slogan, but that his administration had taken action so that every Seychellois who wants to work can do so, and that those who want to do better and rise higher can do so. He insisted that there is no victimisation in Seychelles today, whether at work or at home among others. ‘In these five years to come, we are going to make Seychelles stronger and more beautiful,’ Mr Ramkalawan said. ‘We did not come just to take easy decisions, popular decisions, we did not come to do cheap politics. We came with serious, concrete plans.’
Yesterday afternoon, there were also interventions by his vice-presidential candidate Ahmed Afif, as well as several musical performances.
