IEA Signs Contract for Marine and Auto Industrial Park at Providence

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Industrial Estate Authority (IEA) has officially signed a contract agreement with Allied Builders (Seychelles) Ltd for the design and building of a facility which will house new industrial workshops at the Providence Industrial Estate. This landmark agreement marks the beginning of a major infrastructure project aimed at boosting Seychelles’ industrial development and supporting key economic sectors.

The contract agreement was signed yesterday by Thelma Estico, chief executive officer of the IEA, and Hetal Shah, general manager of Allied Builders. The industrial workshop project will provide modern, purpose-built facilities to accommodate businesses in the marine services and automotive industries. The facility will house 9 industrial workshop units primarily for auto and marine engineering, and will also have a common slipway, boatyard and vehicle parking bays.

The workshops, facilities and support services are tailored to meet the growing needs of entrepreneurs, small and medium enterprises and established operators in these sectors. The total cost of the project to be undertaken by Allied Builders is R23,521,478.90 and the source of financing is the government of Seychelles. The project, which officially took off yesterday with the signing of the agreement, will be completed by September 3, 2026.

Once completed, the Marine and Auto Industrial Park is expected to stimulate economic activity in the marine and automotive sectors, provide opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship, strengthen Seychelles’ capacity in marine engineering, vessel repair and auto services, address the needs for affordable operating space, and create direct and indirect job opportunities for Seychellois workers. The project is being overseen by the Seychelles Infrastructure Agency.
