VICTORIA, Seychelles — Twenty young performers between the ages of 4 and 12 lit up the stage during the 20th edition of the ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ children’s talent show, held at the International Conference Centre Seychelles (ICCS) over the weekend of August 23 and 24. Under the guidance of long-standing producer and artistic director Sir Bennet Accouche and his co-host Vurna Payet, the hall was packed with an enthusiastic audience of parents, friends and members of the public.
Following the first show held on Saturday, Sir Bennet Accouche shared his satisfaction with the production. ‘It is a dream for many children to come on stage and perform. Every year or every time we organise the show, we try our best to help the children discover themselves and their hidden talents. What you see on stage is the result of a long journey,’ he said. Launched in 2001 at the ICCS, the show has become a major source of inspiration, showcasing the talent of young Seychellois from Mahé, Praslin and La Digue.
This year’s performance marked a step up, with a beautiful set designed to look like the ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star House’, from which participants emerged to take the stage. Sir Bennet noted that, for this special anniversary edition, the show had 20 stars instead of the usual 15. ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star is a family show, and we try to bring families on stage to perform. You do not have to be good singers; you just have to come as a family,’ he said. The audience cheered the little stars, and the children were happy with their performances and received gifts and trophies. The hosts made the audience laugh several times with the questions being asked to the children and the unexpected answers received.
