
VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Electoral Commission of Seychelles (ECS) has published the full breakdown of validated submissions for the 2025 National Assembly elections, confirming a total of 125 candidates from seven political parties and four independent candidates, following the rejection of two submissions out of 127 received. The validated candidates will appear on the ballot paper for the National Assembly elections scheduled for September 25, 26 and 27.
The list of validated submissions comprises Mouvman Lavwa Seselwa (MLS) with 7 candidates, the Seychelles United Movement (SUM), United Seychelles (US), Laliberté (IBT) with 5 candidates, Lalyans Nouvo Sesel (LNS), Linyon Demokratik Seselwa (LDS) with 26 candidates, and the Seychelles People’s National Movement (SPNM). Independent candidates, irrespective of the district in which they are standing, will all appear in the same position on the ballot paper. Among the candidates already announced as part of the various party lists are Ted Legalie (Anse Aux Pins), Nichol Belle (Anse Boileau), Valerie Tirant (Anse Royale), Amedee Rose (Anse Royale) and Allana Payet (Au Cap).
Chief Electoral Officer Manuella Amesbury highlighted that the commission’s commitment remains firmly on ensuring a transparent and peaceful election. The order of appearance of candidates on the ballot paper was determined through an official draw conducted by the ECS at the close of nomination day, attended by candidates, political party representatives, ECS officials, elections staff, observers, members of the media and invited guests. With the nomination process now closed, representatives of political parties and independent candidates from all 26 constituencies are expected to strategise on their campaigns in the run-up to polling day.
