VICTORIA, Seychelles — Several candidates who submitted their nominations for the 2025 National Assembly elections have shared their reactions to the process, praising the Electoral Commission of Seychelles (ECS) for the way in which it was carried out. MLS Secretary General Edwards Anacoura said the party had made full use of the ECS help desk, which he described as very useful, and noted that the MLS candidates did not have to take too long inside. ‘Our candidates did not have to take too long inside, and even for the presidential nomination, it all worked well for us,’ he said.
Independent candidate Florry Larue, the second independent to submit after Kenneth Pierre, said that once she reached the Electoral Officer’s desk, the process went smoothly. ‘My slot was at 10.20am, and I was here by 10am, but I was seen at around 11am. However, they had the time to go through all the documents, and from what I have gathered, everything is supposed to be okay,’ she said. Yvon Esther, the final independent candidate to submit and who is hoping to secure a seat for Grand Anse Praslin, said he was confident that he had presented much more than the limit of required signatures. ‘I do not yet know the outcome but I am confident that I have presented much more than the limit of required signatures,’ he stated.
Kenneth Pierre, the first independent to submit, said he was confident that his nomination would be approved. ‘I am confident that my nomination will be approved. I have enough signatures, and even had too many,’ he said. Mr Andre, one of the candidates, said the team had been able to verify the documents a bit faster despite last-minute challenges, and that the party was confident going forward. The candidates appeared in the same order as they did for the security deposit process held on Thursday August 14, with the validated list of 125 candidates to take part in the National Assembly elections, scheduled for September 25, 26 and 27.
