The group included six candidates representing political parties and three individuals running as independents, all of whom presented their nomination papers along with all required documentation. The submissions were received by key ECS officials, including Chief Electoral Officer Manuella Amesbury, Chief Registration Officer Sheena Boniface and Senior Legal Officer Florie Benstrong.
The candidates from political parties, in order of their submission, were: Dr Patrick Herminie of United Seychelles, Marco Francis of Seychelles United Movement (SUM), Wavel Ramkalawan of Linyon Demokratik Seselwa (LDS), Alain St Ange of Lalyans Nouvo Sesel (LNS), Vincent Padayachy of Laliberté and Robert Moumou of the Seychelles People’s National Movement (SPNM). Following them, the three potential independent candidates also presented their nominations: Ralph Volcère, Kisna Louise and Charles De Clarisse. Two further potential candidates did not submit by the close of the day.
Chief Electoral Officer Manuella Amesbury said the ECS had carried out intensive verification to ensure compliance, in order to protect the rights of the candidates and ensure a fair and transparent administrative process. The accepted candidates will be formally notified and presented with their certificates of acceptance following the Commission’s internal deliberations. The final list of candidates and their order on the ballot paper were to be confirmed at the official draw held yesterday evening at the ECS headquarters.
