Ballot Paper Draw Sets Order for 2025 Presidential Election

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The order in which candidates will appear on the ballot paper for the 2025 presidential election was decided yesterday evening during the official draw at the Electoral Commission of Seychelles (ECS) headquarters in Mont Fleuri. Eight candidates, representing five political parties and three independents, were confirmed following the close of nomination day, and each took part in the draw by picking a ball that determined their position on the ballot paper.

The final ballot paper order, from top to bottom, is as follows: Alain St Ange of Lalyans Nouvo Sesel (LNS), Patrick Herminie of United Seychelles (US), Kisna Louise (Independent), Ralph Volcère (Independent), Robert Moumou of the Seychelles People’s National Movement (SPNM), Charles de Clarisse (Independent), Wavel Ramkalawan of Linyon Demokratik Seselwa (LDS), and Maarco Francis of the Seychelles United Movement (SUM). Draws were also conducted for the order of the Political Party Broadcasts, with Ralph Volcère set to open the PPBs, followed by Kisna Louise, Maarco Francis, Charles de Clarisse, Patrick Herminie, Wavel Ramkalawan, Robert Moumou and Alain St Ange. For the closing broadcasts, the order will be Wavel Ramkalawan, Kisna Louise, Maarco Francis, Alain St Ange, Robert Moumou, Ralph Volcère, Patrick Herminie and Charles de Clarisse.

The ballot draw ceremony, originally scheduled for 6pm, began just before 8pm due to administrative delays. It was attended by candidates, political party representatives, ECS officials, elections staff, observers, members of the media and invited guests. Earlier in the day, candidates had submitted their nomination documents as required by law. Chief Electoral Officer Manuella Amesbury said the ECS had carried out intensive verification to ensure compliance, in order to protect the rights of candidates and ensure a fair and transparent administrative process ahead of polling on September 25, 26 and 27.
