VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Linyon Demokratik Seselwa (LDS) on Sunday afternoon held a special convention at the International Conference Centre dedicated to women, under the theme ‘Women in the transformation of our nation’. The gathering brought together hundreds of female supporters for an event that lasted just over two and a half hours and featured addresses, testimonies and a video presentation.
Speaking at the convention, presidential candidate Wavel Ramkalawan, who was accompanied by his wife, addressed the women and shared his vision for their continued role in national development. He paid tribute to the contributions women have made across Seychellois society and stressed that his administration will continue to invest in initiatives that empower women economically and socially, should the party be returned to office in the September 2025 elections.
One of the women who took the floor was Regina Esparon, who shared her life journey and reflected on the positive changes she has witnessed. She thanked Mr Ramkalawan for what she described as his early recognition of the potential of Seychellois women, noting that he had been quick to support their advancement once his administration came to power in 2020. The convention ended with renewed commitments from the women present to play their part in the party’s September campaign.
