
VICTORIA, Seychelles — Elaine Hoareau, 19, is the winner of the President’s Cup for the Seychelles Tourism Academy class of 2025. The prestigious award was presented to her by President Wavel Ramkalawan in front of her peers during the academy’s graduation ceremony yesterday at the International Conference Centre.
She was among 181 students who graduated in various courses, including Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Management, Advanced Certificate in Restaurant and Bar, Food Preparation and Culinary Arts, Wellness and Spa, Reception Operations, Tourism and Tour Guiding, among others. In addition to the President’s Cup, Elaine, who studied Tourism and Tour Guiding at Advanced Certificate level for two years, also received a laptop from the Office of the President, a government scholarship and various other prizes, including an air ticket to Abu Dhabi sponsored by Air Seychelles. She also won the award for best in practical and best in Chinese Language in her specific course.
Other award recipients were Lara Dick and Brandon Malvina, who won the Director’s Award for Best Improved Female and Male students, while Bashir Pharce walked away with the Governing Board Award honouring a learner with recognised practical skills. The Minister’s Award recognising the most outstanding learners from the Certificate, Advanced Certificate and Advanced Diploma programmes went to Wayne Esther, Micaella Dogley and Petra Estico respectively. President Ramkalawan also received a token of appreciation from graduate Brandon Fryars on behalf of all graduates.
