VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Seychelles Arts Awards 2025 Organising Committee has set up a panel of seven jurists, consisting of specialists from the arts, culture and media sector, to assess applications for this year’s awards. Local artists responded to the call for application and submitted completed forms along with their comprehensive curriculum vitae, photographs of events, newspaper articles, certificates of recognition, mentions, recommendations and previous awards as evidence of accomplishments.
The objective was to enable the jury to formulate decisions based on solid evidence of accomplishments. Some artists self-nominated, while others were nominated by family members or friends. There was a total of 35 applications from various art categories and sub-categories, with some artists choosing to participate in several categories at the same time. The jury panel assessed each application carefully, with the chairman Gabriel Essack describing the process as ‘tough’ and noting that ‘every artist deserved recognition’.
The awards are scheduled to be held later this year and are expected to celebrate the best of Seychelles’ creative talent. The organising committee thanked all artists who submitted applications and the jury for their dedication to ensuring a fair and rigorous selection process.
