VICTORIA, Seychelles — Members of the National Assembly of Seychelles have taken part in a specialised training session on violence against women in politics, organised with the support of UN Women ESARO. The session brought together members of parliament, parliamentary staff, and representatives of civil society to discuss the issue and to identify practical responses.
Participants were briefed on the nature, scale, and impact of violence against women in political life, including online harassment, intimidation, and other forms of abuse. The training emphasised the importance of creating safe, inclusive, and respectful political spaces, and of ensuring that women are able to participate fully and equally in public life.
The training is part of a wider regional effort to strengthen the response of parliaments to violence against women in politics. Participants agreed to report such acts, contribute to the creation of supportive policies, and to follow up the session with concrete actions in their respective constituencies and parliamentary work.
