VICTORIA, Seychelles — Members of the National Assembly on Thursday met to discuss procedural reforms and the rollout of new digital platforms intended to strengthen the work of the legislature. The meeting, chaired by the Speaker, provided members with an opportunity to share their views on the direction of the reforms.
According to the assembly secretariat, the proposed reforms are designed to make the work of the legislature more transparent and accessible to citizens. Key areas of focus include the digitisation of parliamentary records, the introduction of an online petition system, and the use of digital tools to engage with the public. Members also discussed the establishment of a one-stop shop that will help with service delivery to citizens and businesses.
“This meeting was an opportunity for us to share with members the direction of the reforms,” said a spokesperson for the assembly. The reforms are expected to be rolled out in phases over the next twelve months, with training for members and staff scheduled to begin later this year. The assembly said the reforms would also help to align the work of the legislature with international best practice and the country’s broader digital transformation agenda.
