Women’s Parliamentary Caucus Holds Outreach on La Digue

VICTORIA, Seychelles — Hon. Regina Esparon last week led a delegation of the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus (WPC) to La Digue, to meet with a group of women on the island. The visit forms part of the caucus’s continuing engagement with constituents across the inner islands.

Members of the delegation included Samynadin, Sylvanne Lemiel, Doyace Porice, Valdana Sultan, Cecile Larsen, Louisette Tamboo, and the principal of the Benet School and Welfare Office Marlene Folette, who highlighted the importance of the outreach. The WPC members used the opportunity to listen to concerns raised by residents and to brief them on the caucus’s ongoing work at the National Assembly.

The visit also provided an opportunity for the WPC to gain a deeper insight into the challenges facing women on La Digue, particularly in relation to economic opportunities and access to public services. A follow-up meeting is being planned for the coming weeks, with the caucus expected to return to La Digue later in the year to continue the engagement.
