United Seychelles Leader Herminie Extends Heartfelt Gratitude to Nurses

VICTORIA, Seychelles — On the occasion of International Nurses Day, Dr Patrick Herminie, president of the United Seychelles party, has extended his deepest appreciation and warmest wishes to all nurses and nursing assistants across the nation. In a press statement, Dr Herminie said: “Today, we celebrate the unwavering dedication, compassion, and tireless efforts of our nurses, who are the backbone of our healthcare system.”

He highlighted the extraordinary commitment of Seychellois nurses, noting that they often exceed the recommended working hours set by the World Health Organisation. He outlined the United Seychelles’ commitments to the profession, including: investing in training and continuous improvement; improving working conditions; enhancing remuneration by increasing the remuneration package; and reducing the pensionable age, with a policy to reduce the pensionable age of retirement to 60 for all workers, allowing nurses and other dedicated professionals the option to retire earlier.

“We understand the demanding nature of the nursing profession, and we believe it is our responsibility to ensure they are adequately supported and valued. By reducing the pensionable age, we aim to provide those who have dedicated their lives to serving others the option to enjoy a well-deserved retirement,” Dr Herminie stated. “On this International Nurses Day, we express our sincere gratitude to every nurse for their invaluable contributions to our nation’s health and well-being. Your dedication and compassion make a profound difference in the lives of countless Seychellois.”
