President Ramkalawan Congratulates Conservatoire Dance Group on Moscow Victory

VICTORIA, Seychelles — President Wavel Ramkalawan yesterday morning welcomed the Conservatoire School of Dance to State House, congratulating them on winning first place in the dancehall category at the renowned World Artistic Dance Federation competition. The delegation of eleven individuals represented Seychelles at the competition, which was held in Moscow, Russia on March 29 and 30, 2025.

The team of seven dancers was accompanied by David André, secretary general of the Seychelles National Institute for Culture, Heritage and the Arts. The President congratulated the group for putting Seychelles on the international dance map and acknowledged the dedication, discipline and training required to compete at such a high level.

The Conservatoire School of Dance has been a flagship institution for arts education in Seychelles, providing structured training in classical and contemporary dance forms. The Moscow result is expected to encourage further investment in the creative industries sector and to inspire more young Seychellois to take up dance and performing arts as a career path. The institute thanked the President for the recognition and reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing local talent.
