President Ramkalawan Honours 20 Long-Serving Seypec Employees

VICTORIA, Seychelles — President Wavel Ramkalawan has expressed his gratitude to 20 long-serving employees of the Seychelles Petroleum Company Limited for their dedicated service to one of the key pillars of the economy. The Head of State met the employees at State House yesterday morning as Seypec marks its 40th anniversary this month.

According to the company’s chief executive, Sarah Romain, the event was primarily to recognise the employees’ contributions. ‘Two of our longest-serving staff members, who are celebrating 40 years with the company, are also retiring this year. It is a wonderful way to continue our celebration,’ she added. The two longest-serving staff members are Janice Tirant and Joelouis Accouche.

Mrs Tirant shared that she started as a management secretary with the former Shell company. ‘I am proud of myself for having served so many years in one company. I started working at Shell in 1980, and when Seypec was created, I joined in 1985. I am very happy, and I will be retiring in July this year. Now, I will enjoy myself,’ she said. President Ramkalawan also encouraged the staff to pass on their skills and knowledge to the younger employees, ensuring that they could also follow in their footsteps. The President noted that the long service of Seypec’s staff represents a continuity of national expertise in the petroleum sector.
