
VICTORIA, Seychelles — The Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs unveiled its 2024 Annual Report in a ceremony held at the Seychelles National Library yesterday afternoon. The event also included the launch of the ministry’s new theme song, ‘Ansanm pour nou kominote’, and showcased its achievements from 2021 to date through an exhibition.
Present at the ceremony were First Lady Linda Ramkalawan, Vice-President Ahmed Afif, Speaker of the National Assembly Roger Mancienne, ministers, principal secretaries, members of the National Assembly and district administrators. The ministry’s official song was written by its principal secretary, Kevin Perine, with musical arrangement by Dareal Thing production. It was performed by one of their employees, Joey Pouponneau. The song encompasses the values of the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs, which are empowerment, engagement and community spirit.
Addressing the attendees, the Minister for Local Government and Community Affairs, Rose-Marie Hoareau, said the occasion is for them to reflect on their progress, celebrate their achievements and reaffirm their commitment to strengthening local governance. ‘This exhibition showcases the hard work and dedication of the management, DAs and the ministry’s teams spread across Mahé, Praslin and La Digue,’ she stated. Key achievements of 2024 include significant progress in community infrastructure, where 176 projects were completed across all 26 districts. The ‘Adopt a District’ programme connected honorary consuls with local districts, with 23 of 26 districts receiving donations.
