Foundation Stones Laid for R13 Million Perseverance DA Office

VICTORIA, Seychelles — Residents of Perseverance will soon have a modern, well-equipped and spacious district administration office and community centre, a project costing the government R13 million. The symbolic foundation stones to mark the beginning of construction were laid by President Wavel Ramkalawan, Minister for Local Government and Community Affairs Rose-Marie Hoareau, and National Assembly member for Perseverance Desheila Bastienne, during a ceremony at the project site yesterday afternoon.

The new facility will consolidate district administration services and provide a central venue for community events, meetings, training and social programmes. The unveiling of the plaque was followed by an artist’s impression of the new DA office and community centre, which showed a two-storey structure with offices, a multi-purpose hall, parking and landscaped public space.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Hoareau said the new building reflects the government’s commitment to bringing services closer to citizens and supporting community development at the district level. President Ramkalawan noted that the project is part of a broader programme to upgrade district administration infrastructure across Mahé, Praslin and La Digue, several of which are operating from ageing or inadequate premises. The construction is expected to take approximately 18 months, with the contractor committing to local employment during the build phase.
