New Seychelles Hospital to Be Built on Roche Caïman Site Near L’Escale Marina

VICTORIA, Seychelles — The proposed site for the construction of the New Seychelles Hospital is in Roche Caïman, on the plot adjacent to the L’Escale Resort Marina & Spa. This came out of a meeting chaired by President Wavel Ramkalawan yesterday at State House, attended by a technical committee overseeing the project.

During the meeting, the committee provided an update on recent developments and discussions also explored options to ensure the new facility delivers modern, efficient, and high-quality healthcare services for Seychelles. A key focus of the meeting was the realisation of the hospital’s concept, ensuring that the project aligns with national healthcare priorities and meets international standards. The committee also reviewed the terms of reference (TOR) for the feasibility study, which will assess the technical, financial, and operational aspects of the project.

A revised timeline has been established for the project’s execution, with key milestones as follows: a direct bidding request to the National Tender Board, technical team discussions on March 11, expected project award by mid-March, completion of the feasibility study and presentation of the final report by end of June, a decision on the hospital design and partnership for funding in September, the appointment of a consultant for the detailed design, and a proposed groundbreaking for construction in November 2025. President Ramkalawan reaffirmed the government’s strong commitment to the project, emphasising the need for meticulous planning and evaluation to guarantee that the New Seychelles Hospital meets the country’s long-term healthcare needs.
