Minister Radegonde Tours Ten North Mahé Tourism Establishments

VICTORIA, Seychelles — Minister for Tourism and Foreign Affairs Sylvestre Radegonde, accompanied by his team, on Friday visited ten small tourism establishments and cultural tourism businesses in the northern part of Mahé. The visit began in the North East Point area, specifically in the L’Ilot region, and concluded at Sorrento.

‘It was a very productive exercise, and I am satisfied with the physical standards of the establishments, all of which are run by Seychellois,’ said Minister Radegonde, adding that he spoke to all ten owners and did not receive any complaints, except for one who reported issues with regard to theft. The minister said he was happy to see how well the small establishments are doing in the region. ‘Some establishments are doing very well and are consistently full. However, there are others in Seychelles that are struggling, and we need to understand where the blockages lie,’ he said.

Minister Radegonde also expressed his concern, noting that no one has the right to enter premises without permission. The minister said such actions not only damage the reputation of small establishments, but also tarnish the reputation of the country as a destination. He noted that there have also been incidents of harassment of clients, and called for damage control. Following a visit to Seyramics, the minister took part in a creative activity and encouraged other businesses to adopt a similar approach.
