President Ramkalawan Visits Registrar General’s Office to Review Service Delivery

VICTORIA, Seychelles — President Wavel Ramkalawan visited the office of the Registrar General at Independence House on Saturday as part of his efforts to address challenges and identify solutions for improvement. The visit covered the ground-floor Company Business and Intellectual Property section before moving to the first floor, which houses the main office of the secretariat, including the accounts, search area, land and compliance sections, and the human resource department.

One of the key achievements noted was the digital transformation of the office, with more than 80,000 land documents already scanned. The President observed that soon, when people come to do research, they will have access to computers and their research will be far more efficient, since all the old land transcripts have also been scanned. He expressed satisfaction that Seychelles is moving in a good direction in giving the public the best service possible.

Registrar General Wendy Zialor said the office’s digital transformation is aligned with the government’s broader efforts to modernise public services. She emphasised the importance of the office’s role in providing essential information to other key services such as the police, and how modernisation will improve efficiency. She added that educating and bringing awareness to the public is also important, and that their customer service office is facilitating this.
