VICTORIA, Seychelles — Seychelles’ inner islands are to host their first major international concert in years with a tribute show to the late South African reggae legend Lucky Dube, featuring his son Thokozani Dube and the Lucky Dube band, on Praslin and La Digue over the coming weeks.
Organisers said the concerts were designed with the inner-island fan in mind. “Music-lovers on Praslin and La Digue do not have the chance to enjoy a concert on their turf, so we decided to put together what will be the first international concert to be held on the inner islands in recent years,” they said. The Praslin show will also feature local artists including a youth band, Kolonel, and a few others.
The Mahé concert will include performances by Juliah, Keartsea and Auspicious, with DJ Madman on the decks. Three ticket types are on sale at Dara’s Plus and from the organisers: R300 early-bird, R350 at the gate, and R1,000 VIP, with a private bar, parking, snacks and a raffle ticket with cash prizes. Organisers say VIP tickets have been selling quickly.
