President Ramkalawan Marks Orthodox Christmas with Message of Unity

VICTORIA, Seychelles — President Wavel Ramkalawan has extended greetings to members of the Greek Orthodox community in Seychelles and around the world on the occasion of Orthodox Christmas. In a statement released by the Office of the President, he wished the community peace, joy, and renewed hope as it marked the birth of Jesus Christ.

The president said the festive season carries timeless values of love, compassion, and unity that should guide Seychellois communities throughout the year. He called on citizens to reflect on togetherness and kindness, and to spread goodwill in their daily lives. The statement extended warm wishes for a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year to all who celebrated.

Orthodox Christmas, observed according to the Julian calendar on January 7, is marked by Seychelles’ Greek Orthodox community and others who follow the traditional date. The president’s message forms part of a wider pattern of presidential communications to faith communities during the festive period, alongside his New Year address.
